This weekend marks the annual trip the St. Joseph's feast in Malden. It's a carnival event at the Church where my wife and I were married. It features the typical carnival stuff - rides, decent food, games for the kids, etc. It also features a massive beer truck.
This is where my dilemma and beer snob status hinders me slightly.
You see, I'm a big fan of all beers in green bottles with the exception of Rolling Rock and Dos Eques. Put a Becks, Grolsch, St. Paulie Girl, or Heineken in front of me and I'm good.
At the feast, the big beer truck is purely Bud and Bud Light.
Ouch.
I'm a big fan of beer. I enjoy drinking it. I like the different varieties and flavors. When I drink beer, I want to taste the different ingredients. I don't like watered down beer or beer that's advertised as "refreshing." To me that means that it basically tastes like water.
To add salt to the wound, it's Bud and Bud Light draft.
Even worse.
Tap beer is basically what is left in the production barrel. Some area great, some are better than others, some are just outright fowsty. Bud and Bud Light draft fits in the latter category.
So, yea, I'm a beer snob. However, due to the lack of options, I will dive into the Bud and Bud Lights. The first one is always the toughest. Have a few more and they get sort of ok. Have even more and they start to taste like a greenie (well, that's a stretch, but you get my point).
The best part of it all is that they are about $2-3 bucks a beer.
That's the compromise. This is purely quantity over quality and it's only once a year, so I can "deal" with it.

Thoughts on Celtics playoff tickets
We are about 59 hours away from the start of the NBA finals. Tickets went on "sale" yesterday. The reason why I put sale in quotations is because guys like me can't get our hands on tickets. Yea, sure, I could have gone to the Garden and waited in line for a lottery - a lottery, i.e. a CHANCE to buy tickets. Is it worth the $200 and my time? Probably not.
This is what pisses me off about professional sports. I've been a Celtic fan since I can remember. Yea, I grew up during the late 70s and 80s. Good times. Lots of winning teams. Then came the 90s and we all know what happened during those days.
That's cool though. We suffered through it and now look where we are. We are still in the hunt for #17. Getting tickets was no problem back in the days, especially when they were losing. Now, you have to have corporate connections or blackmail on someone to get the privilege to go see the Green do battle.
I understand that you need the high ticket prices to keep talent on the team. However, why hold so many tickets for VIPs, advertisers and the like when the REAL fans are sleeping on sidewalks to get in line just for a CHANCE to BUT tickets. The Celtics had about 1,200 that they offered to the general public. That's not nearly enough.
I guess most of the real fans (not including the die hards who have had season tickets and are going to game because I applaud those folks) will be watching it from home.
That's also ok with me. Good company, a few brews and my 42 inch plasma and I'm good to go. Add surround sound and it's like I'm at the game. In my case though, there are no long lines for the bathroom AND the beers and snacks are much, much cheaper.
Beat LA!

Dunkin' Donuts green stores
Ironic that D&D wants to build green stores, but contributes to the ungreening of this planet by selling product in styrofoam cups.
I used to get iced coffees and ask for a cup to keep the java cold. However, I've started to forgo the utilization of said cups to do my small part to go green.
I should probably start recycling my beer bottles too.

Adapting to your environment
This would be a heineken keg in a kids bucket using cold packs to keep the beer frosty. That is what I call a veteran move.
