If you are in the PR business, there is a website and a FREE resource - yes, I said free - that you must, must, must, must check out.
It's called Help A Reporter Out aka HARO. Basically, reporters that need sources, can be connected to people that can truly add value to their story. For PR hacks like myself, it provides a great pipeline of potential media opps for your client.
Peter Shankman, the brain behind the service, takes no bull. You spam a reporter. You're toast. You continually pitch a reporter with crap. You're toast. Basically, it forces PR people to act more like sources versus PR people. The best part is that it's free. It's a simple premise. If I'm not mistaken he already has 4,000 folks signed up in a very short period of time. Very impressive.
Let's hope HARO keeps things rolling, journalists keep using the service and PR hacks like myself don't abuse it.
